Successful Pet Rehoming Stories From Thanet Animal Group

We adoped our cat, TYE from you a year ago on 10th March when he was 16 weeks old.  This is just to let you know that he is doing well and is a treasured part of our family.  He is totally mad (Like us!) and although he has his quiet cuddly moments, he loves to play hard and has a very impressive toy box.
Forrest, AKA Norry!!! Is still doing very well. He is so intelligent and fearless. Today we had a foray out into the garden where he tore about enjoying himself ending up upside down in the sunshine apparently very happy. A bit scary was a small encounter with a chicken and as it got closer Norry did a big Hiss and scared it off ! He is such incredible company and so entertaining.
Thanks for allowing us to have him.

Pumpkin settled in fairly quickly and after about 3 days she was completely at home.  She likes the garden and is quite happy going in and out through the cat-flap, as long as I have tied it open, but she will not head butt it open when it is in the closed position.  Pumpkin is such a loving cat, she is all that I wanted.
Kittens

We are Coco, Garfield and Poppy, we are Kit Kats entire litter and were adopted on 29th May 2010. We have a great time playing with our new family and our toys, our favourite toy is our owners 14 year old cats tail, much to her annoyance!! We are eating lots and growing fast and are looking forward to when we can go outside, it looks fun, as there is a big garden to play in. Thank you TAG for sending us to a home where we will be loved and looked after well, a big meow, from Coco, Poppy and Garfield.

Simba

MERLIN & SIMBA... Both are very happy and settled down really well. Both are very content and curious like most cats - as well as being very affectionate enjoying lots of strokes and cuddles. At first they were a little scared, hiding under our sofa and crying but soon realised that they were part of a loving home. The only time they cry now is when they are hungry! Simba took his time to settle where as Merlin took to us straight away. Merlin seems to like sitting on window sills and behind my computer on my desk, Simba has adopted our fruit bowl as a place to sleep as well as our laundry basket despite providing two soft beds which they both just ignore! They are well and truly part of our family and we wouldn't be without them. I have attached a few photos as I thought you would appreciate them. Simba loves having his photo taken where as Merlin just seems to look grumpy unless he is asleep!

sherbert montage

SHERBERT
Hi Guys – Guess Who? Yes it’s me Sherbert! I thought it was about time I got in touch to let you know how things are here in my new home. Well it couldn’t be better, it’s just purrrfect! I have a huge house to wander around in and an even bigger garden to patrol! I knew I did the right thing when I saw Joyce (my new mum) walk into Rogues Retreat (she only came in for a rest), she had just lost her puss-cat and wanted to give a home to another one but after looking at all the other inmates, she couldn’t make up her mind which cat she fancied, I just sat down next to her and she took to me in an instant -1 still have pulling power you know even for an old gal!  It was a bit strange at first having so much space to myself but I soon adjusted, I have to be pretty nimble on my paws when Mum moves around, as she uses a funny contraption on wheels that helps her to walk, so far no accidents but I’m very careful not to get under her feet just in case! She takes such good care of me, attends to my every need, that I feel it’s only fair to return the favour so everywhere she goes I follow – and I mean everywhere! Just to ensure there are no slips etc.you understand?  When I first went out into the garden I found it a bit daunting as it so much bigger than Rogues Retreat so I didn’t stray too far away from the cat flap – which I have no trouble in getting my rather cuddly tummy through I hasten to add! IVe met the cat next door, she seems okay but a bit of a scaredy-puss though! So I sorted out the large cat that lives at the back of my garden for her – he won’t be back in a hurry!
All in all life is just peachy and I hope that it won’t be too long before some of my old chums are as lucky as me and get a good home too!

ZEUS (now Soots)Zeus

As you can see I have got my feet well and truly under the table. I usually start the day at around 7am when I greet my staff at the gate along with my companions Misha (pictured above) and Duke (not available for the photoshoot today). Duke is an elderly gentleman and gives me no trouble whatsoever but Misha on the other hand is a tougher nut to crack, but I’m sure she will succumb to my charms very soon. I soon let the staff know if the grub isn’t up to scratch and dispatch them off to the supermarket for some new delicacies. This works very nicely and at the moment Sheba is on the menu, purrfect.I have made lots of new friends who love me dearly and I would like to thank everyone, especially Nora for welcoming me so warmly to her wonderful stables (Thanet Disabled Riding Centre). All my Love Soots (aka Zeus) Finlay

Just to let you know FINLAY  has settled in very quickly, after a few minutes of looking a bit worried he happily sat on the sofa and has seemed very relaxed ever since!  He’s been enjoying running up and down the stairs, playing with his new toys, lazing around and having lots of fuss

Bing and TuffyBING AND TUFFY Hello my name is Jessica I adopted Bradley (Bing) and Tupac (Tuffy) and this is what they have been up to. Bing has been my alarm clock because he has been jumping on my bed to wake me up and to stroke him. He also sleeps on my bed at night time. Whilst Bing has been doing that Tuffy has been sleeping in my Dad’s pants drawer but my Dad doesn’t mind at all. The other day we put their collars on which are blue and the ones that come of easily. They do not like them at all because they keep on scratching to try to get them of but it doesn’t work but hopefully they will get used to them and won’t scratch anymore. I hpe you enjoyed reading my letter and I hope you will find homes for all of your animals there.  From Jessica Parsons age 11

Bradley and Tupac’s owner

Delphi and Riley

Just a quick note to say Thank you to TAG, currently Bart (aka Riley) is helping me type and Lisa (aka Delphi) is asleep in the living room.  They both have settled in nicely and have incredibly loud purrs!

Pepper

PEPPER He’s had a good look around the house (not so much upstairs yet!).  Made him self quite at home & we’ve had lots of purring!!  He & Jasper are sizing each other up…..no fireworks, just looks!!!!!   In fact we’re sure that Felix has the upper hand! We’ll be sure to keep you posted on his progress.  Thank you all very much for letting us have the pleasure of welcoming him into our home

BubbleBUBBLE Dave and Lucy here just keeping you up to date with bubbles progress. Well she is being very adventurous and investigating the whole house. With all the running up and down the stairs that bubble belly is going to drop off. hahaha. She met lucys parents today and seemed to love them!  We have attached a few pics of getting on in her new home. Thank you soooo much for showing us such a GREAT cat with big personality! she is already VERY loved.  She is sitting right next to me on the sofa as I write to you purring away!

Milo

Milo has settled in with us really well. He enjoys finding sunny spots in the house and loves sitting on us or next us on the sofa or armchair and being stroked. He wasn’t very happy at the vets having his vaccinations and a check over though. Milo has been in the back garden with us twice and we’ve sent for a cat flap so eventually, when we’re sure he knows his way home, he can come and go as he pleases.

Pickle[1] CuddlesJust to let you all know how Cuddles and Pickle have settled in. They have been here for a month now and are getting along really well. When we first brought them home, Pickle was very nervous and hid under the sofa for eight hours. Cuddles was much more confident and sat straight down on the sofa, enjoying some of thier new toys. Cuddles seems to be a ‘mans cat’ always preferring to sit on the men of the households laps. Pickle is more affectionate with the females. They have been up to Eagles vets for their yearly vaccines and a routine blood test (which they were most disgusted at!) They are now going out in the back garden, looking in the pond at the goldfish………., poking their noses in at the neighbors garden and sitting in the birdbath!! They are the best of friends and in the evenings snuggle up together on the sofa. We are delighted to have them. We lost our lovely old cat Ollie in February due to diabetes and old age, and were very sad when we decided to go up to TAG and look at the moggies. We are very happy we did.

HOPPY (Now Macavity)I can’t believe we have had Hoppy for a week now, we have renamed him Macavity, after the mystery cat in T. S. Elliot’s book, as we thought we’d lost him on the 2nd morning, only to look up and see him perched on top of a cupboard in the utility room! (see attached pic) He has settled in very well and his appetite has recovered after the effects of the first few days, he has gradually found his way around the house, and was very miffed yesterday when we sat outside for a cup of tea, and he could only watch through the glass door! His wound under his arm doesn’t seem to be bothering him and I have been able to put vaseline on each day, but if it doesn’t heal up in a few more days I may take him to the vet, just to make sure. He is a very loving cat and loves hugs and a lap to sit on but he is a bit of a fidget, he also talks all the time especially when he is being ignored!!! We love him already! I think he’s quite pleases with his new gaff, and looks a bit like ‘the cat with the cream’!!!Macavity

Stella

I rescued a cat from you back in August her name at the time was Stella, we have renamed her Bella.I  Bella is a very loving and friendly cat who enjoys lots of fuss,if she feels ignored for even a moment she climbs up on your shoulders so you have to fuss her.She loves to play with her toys and run around the house making lots of noise, she doesnt like to go out very much and seems happier indoors. Her favourite person in the house is my 10 year old son and she cuddles up with him most nights on his bed.She is a joy to have and is now an important member of our family and we all love her very much.

Thank you for allowing us to adopt Bella.

Hattie

HATTIE

Just to let you know how well Hattie has settled in with us. She wasn’t the least bit nervous when she first got home – and went off to explore all over the house straight away.  Within a few hours she was comfortably settled on Jake’s lap – and now we’ve managed to reassure her that she is allowed on the furniture, we can’t find a place on the sofa for ourselves. She spent the first night in the wardrobe, but hasn’t felt the need to retreat since. we got her a nice new snuggly basket – but she’s shunned that in favour of an old shoebox that was destined for the recycling bin!  We weren’t going to let her out into the garden for another few days but she had other ideas, and seems to approve of the facilities.  We’ve had her playing indoors, chasing a piece of string on a stick so she may soon return to her more slender form – although she eats like food is going out of fashion .  We’re very pleased to have found her – and it seems the feeling is mutual – she never stops purring!

Sky

Sky (now Smithy) Thank you so much for your assistance in the adoption of Sky whom I have now named Smithy. He is very much enjoying his new home and has been desperately trying to play with my tabby cat Baldrick who is slowly coming around to the idea of a new friend with Smithy following him everywhere he goes. Smithy especially likes running up and down the stairs like a small elephant and sitting on the arm chair in the bay window to watch passing people and of course the seagulls!

FIFI AND TRIXIE

I saw a lovely picture of Hattie and remembered to contact you let you know how Fifi and Hattie (now Trixi0 are getting on.
We have had them in our lives for 6 months now and everyday they make us chuckle. They have grown into two beautiful and very different cats.
Trixi ( also known at fatso) loves a cuddle and the fire on a cold winters night. She is happy to have a chat with you and enjoys her tunnel and wiggly waggler. Fifi ( known as slinky) is much more her own cat. Coming for a stroke and a lick on her terms but is often found suggling on a fleecey blanket ontop of my sons 6 foot high bed. Her favouite toys are straw mice ( all 12 of them) that are dotted under dressers and sofas around the house. Once we find one she could spend all day chacing them up the stairs and bringing them back down to us to be thrown again. A retriever cat!
Both enjoy their first experience of outside…in the snow. Trixi would stay out all day if she could but Fifi is happy to sit and watch her through the conservatory window. I’m sure as the days get longer and warmer they will enjoy the garden more.
Thank you for letting us have them as part of our family. You were right that 2 kittens together are far happier and content. I could not imagine them apart.

POLLY

Polly

I thought I would drop you a line to let you know how Polly is settling in with the Collins family.   Polly – now called Misty and sometimes Mrs Misty Moo Moo – has settled in incredibly well.   She is very sociable and likes to be with us.   If she is in the lounge and someone goes upstairs she will often follow.   The first day she tried to hide a lot but has not done that since.   She is very inquisitve and a bit of a scavenger – we have to hide all food otherwise it would go! She enjoys sitting next to someone in the evenings and being stroked, but has yet to venture onto a lap although I am sure she will, with time.

MARMALADE (Now Bailey) As you are aware we adopted a cat from you in November 2008,  Marmalade – now Bailey – and sometimes Mr Bailey Foo Foo (yes, we are mad!) Bailey ignores Misty totally.   There has been the odd hiss but that is all.   We are hoping when Misty is allowed out that they will become friendly, but again, this is a time thing. I will write to you again in a few months with an update and a photograph.

SABRE AND ROMEO

Sabre and Romeo

Hello, our new mummy said we had to write to say that we are ok and settling on, but we are a bit put out because that means picking up our paws when all we want to do is snooze on Mummy’s lap! We have a room all to ourselves but we like pretty much evey room in the house – even the stairs! We have included a couple of photos of our new house. Thank you for looking after us and for finding our new home; we think we’ll have this mummy trained in no time!

LEONA Now Libby)

Leona[1]

Just a quick note to let you know that Libby (Leona) is doing very well.  She has her final injection next week at the vets and she has also made our bed her favourite place to sleep.  She is still slowly adjusting to our other cat, so hopefully in the next month or so they will be more settled together.  They like their own space at the mo.

sooty&sweep[1]
I am fostering Sooty (and previously Sweep) from TAG since November 2008. I thought you might like an update to how they are doing. The day they arrived home they settled in within minutes and they were straight up on the sofa for cuddles – it was like they had always been with us. Sweep was definitely a mummy’s boy and Sooty is a daddy’s girl! Unfortunately we put Sweep to sleep last summer as he had developed a tumour in his mouth. This loss had a big effect on Sooty as they had been together for so long but after a bit more TLC she has started to come out of her shell. In fact she is definitely the queen of her castle and has a great appetite and loves warming her belly under the radiator!!! I think she may be feeling a little lonely when 2 became 1 so I am considering getting her a friend – let me know what you think.

WORCESTER AND PERKINS  (Now Dale and Chip)

Worc and purk

Hi  everyone.   Sorry its been a long time but hope this makes up for it there will be photos with this one and will send some more. Paula, Garry, Neryse & Kian  would like you to see how much Worcester& Perkins mean to be part of our family. We have renamed them,  Worcester is now called (Dale) & Perkins is called Chip. They were great fun at Christmas they slept under the tree and Chip decided to take away the cloth that covers over the bottom. So funny to see him running around the house, they play all the time and are such good company,  love lots of cuddles with the family and when you are not well they like to lay with you on your lap . Well that’s all for now -we will send you another email soon with some more pics THANKYOU VERY MUCH ALL OUR LOVE THE SAUNDERS FAMILY,&CHIP,DALE meow meow

BARNABY AND BINTY
Binty
Barnabv
Remember us we were adopted end of January…yep its Barnaby and
Binty!! I know how pleased you were when we were finally given a chance
having lived with you for 18months. Well don’t worry anymore this home
thing was a bit strange at first as there is this big box with noise
and moving pictures mum calls it a “TV”…well that took some getting
used to and our house is huge it took us a week to explore it fully.  Oh yeah I can’t believe you told my mum that I was the quiet shy one
and that my sister Binty was more confident! I’ve led every exploration
of our new home and had to check out each room before sis would even
step foot in it! (I’m quite the man of the house)  I am loving this
brushing and fussing that I get daily I just can’t get enough of it I
follow mum round everywhere. Binty loves a good tummy rub and you
wouldn’t believe how many toys we’ve got we’re very spoilt.Mum says I’m
full of mischief cos I steal her book mark when she’s reading….I only
do it cos she stops reading and gives me a fuss. There are 3 great kids to play with but unfortunately they have to go to school during the day but we keep their beds warm for them. Dad is getting used to my early morning wake up call when I pounce on his feet tee hee you should see his face! Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for looking after me and finding me and Binty such a great family. I’ll get mum to send you a photo of us soon.

Sophie

SOPHIE

I am about eleven years old and a beautiful tortoiseshell and white cat. 2009 was a year of confusion for me, and I spent from May to the end of the year in the TAG Pet Rescue Centre, apart from a short spell in the autumn in a new home which did not suit me (there was a dog I couldn’t cope with) Although the people at TAG are lovely and looked after me well, what I longed for was a peaceful home of my own with a mum to love me and a warm lap to curl up on. Maybe part of the reason I was there for so long without being chosen was that many people were looking for kittens or younger cats, but although I’m no longer in the first flush of youth, I have plenty of purring left yet! On New Year’s Eve 2009, at last, a lady and her daughter came to see me and, what a thrill, thought I would fit perfectly into their family. She left her red scarf in my bed so that I would get to know her smell, and left with a big smile on her face. On the first day of the new decade, 1st January 2010, they came back through a snowstorm and brought me to my new home, promising that this was the last time I would have to get used to a new place. Now, two months later, I have settled well into my new home and have stopped hiding under the bed when people visit. All the sofas and chairs are mine, and while I am not allowed on the beds, I have my own daybed in the study. Everyone is at my beck and call which is how it should be for a beauty such as me.  After three weeks in the house, mum let me out in the garden and I explored while she shivered on the patio worrying that I might not come back! (Was she mad? Why would I not return to a warm house and chicken for tea?) I didn’t even go out of sight so I am now allowed out on my own, and have mastered my personal entrance, the catflap. I don’t go far, the garden is enough for me, much to mum’s relief. So there you are, a happy ending thanks to my friends at TAG and my new family. Love from a very contented cat Sophie xx

AmberAMBER I adopted a lovely cat from Tag called Amber, she is 8 years old. Adopted on feb 8th 2010. She settled into her new home very quickly, and within hours of arriving at her new home she was sitting on my lap and following me around!!  I couldn’t wish for a more affectionate cat. love from Maureen
